Terminology management: the difference between good and excellent

Translating a company's terminology can mark the difference between good and excellent.
This process can be carried out in two ways: our translators can work on the translation by using a glossary provided by the customer or create a new one. In both cases, the participation of the customer is essential as they must give the final approval of the glossary created by our translators. Ideally the glossary should be created in advance (pre-translation), through translating the contents page or the most frequent words. Once the glossary is complete, it is incorporated into the translation memory. It is also possible to do this subsequently (post-translation) and the changes made in the glossary are incorporated in the translation memory. Advance Translations uses TRADOS Mutiterm for its terminology management.
  • The customer's participation is essential because they have to validate the proposed translation of the terms.
  • The ideal process is to create the glossary before the translation is carried out (pre-translation).
